Jail Term for Sierra Leone Commonwealth team In Australia

A possible jail term is awaiting the Sierra Leonean team in the just concluded 2018 Commonwealth games in Gold Coast, Australia upon their return back home in the country.

They are allegedly supporters of the now opposition All Peoples Congress Party (A PC) during the recent elections. Sources very close to this medium state that they were sent by the A PC party to represent the country in the Commonwealth games in Gold Coast Australia.

As such, the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) is threatening to bring them to book if ever they return home. This is on the grounds that several Millions of Leones was involved in the trip to the games.

It could be recalled that most of the members in the Commonwealth team currently in Australia are from Kenema, Eastern Sierra Leone where a high spate of post election violence has been perpetrated in the country since the announcement of the March Presidential runoff election.

According to a top official of the Country Sport Ministry who wants to remain anonymous, the action against the team members is politically motivated.
