OFFICE CLEANER
Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University. For 40 years and in over 155 countries, Jhpiego Corporation has been providing technical support to the Ministries of Health in partner countries across the globe for the past 40 years in a variety of technical areas including cervical cancer treatment and prevention, community health, HIV and AIDS, maternal and newborn health, health workforce capacity development (both pre-service and in-service), family planning, malaria, and IPC/WASH.
We are currently looking for a suitable candidate to fill the following position:
Position: Office Cleaner
Dept/Project: Operations
Reports to: Senior Admin/ Fleet & Logistics Officer
Location: Freetown
Job Purpose
The Office Facilities Assistant provides day-to-day support to ensure the office environment is clean, safe, organized, functional, and ensure the environment is always well taken care of. Each will be allocated primevally to each floor while they provide general support for onload and offload of items among other internal support and assistance. The role also provides general administrative and operational support, including running authorized internal and external office errands, supporting office logistics, and assisting with the smooth delivery of facilities-related services.
Key Responsibilities:
Office Facilities & Hygiene
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional office environment.
- Support daily cleaning and hygiene activities across offices, meeting rooms, reception areas, common spaces, kitchens, washrooms, and other designated areas.
- Ensure adequate availability of cleaning materials, toiletries, drinking water, and other essential office supplies.
- Report facility defects, maintenance needs, safety concerns, or damaged equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with the proper arrangement and preparation of meeting rooms, workspaces, and common areas.
- Support waste collection, segregation, and disposal in line with office procedures.
Office Supplies & Facilities Support:
- Assist in monitoring and replenishing office consumables and facility supplies.
- Support the receipt, movement, storage, and distribution of office supplies as assigned.
- Help maintain basic records of cleaning materials, toiletries, drinking water, and other facility-related items.
- Support routine checks of office equipment, furniture, fixtures, lighting, plumbing, and other facilities, and promptly report faults.
- Assist contractors, technicians, and service providers when they are carrying out authorized work within the office.
Internal Office Errands & Operational Support:
- Run authorized internal and external office errands as assigned by the supervisor or designated staff.
- Support the collection and delivery of documents, stationery, supplies, correspondence, and other office items between departments or approved locations.
- Assist with photocopying, filing, document movement, dispatches, and other basic administrative tasks when required.
- Support the preparation and movement of materials for meetings, workshops, trainings, and office events.
- Assist staff with practical day-to-day office requests within the scope of the role.
- Ensure that all assigned errands are completed promptly, responsibly, and with appropriate documentation where required.
Meeting & Event Support:
- Assist in setting up meeting rooms, training venues, and office events.
- Arrange chairs, tables, refreshments, stationery, water, and other required materials.
- Ensure meeting and event spaces are clean and properly restored after use.
Health, Safety & Security:
- Maintain high standards of workplace hygiene and cleanliness.
- Report spills, hazards, unsafe conditions, damaged facilities, or security concerns immediately.
- Follow organizational health, safety, safeguarding, confidentiality, and security procedures.
- Handle office supplies, cleaning materials, equipment, and organizational property responsibly.

Qualifications & Experience:
Basic education or equivalent practical experience.
Previous experience in office cleaning, facilities support, hospitality, administration, or a similar role is an advantage.
Ability to perform routine physical tasks associated with maintaining an office environment.
Basic ability to read, write, communicate, and maintain simple records.
Previous experience running office errands or providing administrative support is an added advantage.
