“Justice Abdulai Charm Will Still Preside Over the Sylvia Blyden Elections Petition” …Charles Margai

Must read

The sacked Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Charles Francis Margai, has stated in Freetown that removing Chief Justice Abdulai Charm from the Office of Chief Justice will not necessarily strip him off the opportunity to continue to preside over the March, 2018 elections petitions brought forward to the Supreme Court by Dr Sylvia Olayinka Blyden and the 2018 APC flagbearer, Dr Samura Kamara.
Hon. Justice Charm, who was relieved as Chief Justice of the Republic of Sierra Leone some few weeks ago, was presiding over, with other four judges, the election petition matter, and the legal luminary, Charles Francis Margai, had opined that relieving the Chief Justice will not necessarily lead to stripping him off all the powers he has.
The PMDC leader, who spoke for the very first time since his sacking, noted that, if he was Attorney General by now, his move would have been to look at our laws, which, according to him, are in a very bad shape.
He bashed the President for considering to build a new State House, which, he noted, is not a priority for now. “The economy is in shambles and there is every need to provide the country with the basics,“ Lawyer Francis Margai said.
Charles Margai also criticized the government for pushing through with a Commission of Enquiry. He encouraged the Government to push for national cohesion, which, he noted, is key to development and sustainable peace.
