15-years-old Milford King, a plumber and Nyakeh Lahai Kallon, a Manson made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 Freetown, on two count charges of house breaking and larceny contrary to Section 25(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the charge sheet, on Monday, 3rd March, 2025, at No. 3 Kamara Drive, Milton Margai College Road in Freetown, the accused persons broke and entered into the dwelling house of Amina Mans and stole cash of Four Thousand New Leones property of Amina Mans.
Count two furthered that on the above date and place, both accused broke and entered into the dwelling house of Miss Sarika Kamara and stole one engagement gold and diamond ring valued two Thousand United States Dollars, (US$2000) equivalent to Two Thousand, Four Hundred New Leones, one Apple ear pod pro valued at Two Hundred United States Dollars (US$ 2000) equivalent to Four Thousand, Eight Hundred and Eighty New Leones, one large tin body vaseline valued at Five Hundred new Leones, one HP computer valued at Five Thousand New Leones, one hard drive ITB valued at Two Thousand Four Hundred and Forty New Leones and other assorted items all to the total value of Thirty-Nine Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy New Leones, property of Sarika Kamara.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons, no plea was taken.
Inspector Bangura M. led in evidence, the Prosecution Witness No.1, Amina Mans. She identified herself as a Business woman and recognized the accused persons in the dock and the complainant as her son.
During her last testimony, she was accompany by the police officer to her house and arrested Milford and took him to the police station where she made a statement.
Amina Mans was cross-examined by the Defense Counsel to prove that his clients were innocent, and went on to renew his previous bail application on behalf of the accused persons.
However, Magistrate Kekura granted bail to the second accused person in the sum of One Hundred New Leones (NLe 100) and one Surety, who must a resident within the jurisdiction and should provide a valid national identity card, while bail continued for the first accused person. The case was adjourned to 10th April, 2025.
