Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.1 yesterday Monday, September 12, 2022, withdrew the ongoing murder matter involving the accused charged with murder contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

The accused, Abubakar Suleiman Kamara, Dora Samuella Kamara, Benjamin Mohamed Lamin Kamara, and Imatu Suleiman Kamara appeared before the court on two counts charges of conspiracy and murder contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

It was alleged that the accused, on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at No.4 Mamah Lane, Kambia, in the Magbema Chiefdom of the North-West Region, conspired with unknown persons to murder Amidu Kargbo.

It could be recalled that during the previous hearing, Defence Counsel Hindolo M. Gavao applied for a subpoena to be served on the pathologist, Dr Simeon Owizz Koroma, to testify on the matter. Defence counsel’s application was granted by the Magistrate.

During the testimony of prosecution witness (PW) 5, Detective Inspector Paul Amara Makieu, attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Pademba Road in Freetown, he said he could recall August 15, 2022, saying that he was on duty at the aforesaid police headquarters when he received the cause of death certificate from the government consultant pathologist Dr Simeon Owizz Koroma, confirming to the bench that he had examined the remains of Amidu Kargbo and issued the cause of death certificate to the police.

His findings revealed that there were multiple blood fractures due to fatal physical aspect, adding that he could not tell if ‘the bunch of cane’ should be the cause as cervical vertebrate cannot be dislocated by canes.

However, Magistrate Ngegba has withdrawn the file for ruling slated on Monday, September 19, 2022.
