The Kono Active Support Team (KAST) will be hosting a dinner and dialogue night during which occasion they would send a message loud and clear to the All People’s Congress (APC) party that the people of Kono District are in full support of the irrespective of whosoever emerges as flagbearer of the party for the coming 2028 Presidential and General Elections.
The dinner and dialogue session will be held on Saturday, 7th June, 2025 at the Diamond Lodge Hotel in Kono. The theme for the dinner and dialogue session according to the organizers is: “Paving Way For APC in Kono.”
KAST was formed following the 2018 and 2023 general elections when the people of Kono District were left asking difficult but necessary questions as they witnessed challenges that included fragmentation, lack of coordination and a growing distance between the APC party structures and grassroots supporters.
In that moment the people of Kono came to the realization of the need for a renewal of their allegiance and connection with the APC party, a clamour that ultimately gave birth to the Kono Active Support Team (KAST).
KAST is a group of committed APC loyalists from all corners of Sierra Leone and the diaspora.
The group has professionals, lawyers, doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, administrators and former Members of Parliament who have united with one purpose to see Kono rise and to also see the APC party flourish in the district.
The identity and principles is that KAST is proudly independent and whiles they collaborate closely within the APC party official structures at district, regional and national levels, they operate independently based on the principles of integrity, transparency and service.
The group is self-funded and their support comes from volunteer contributions made by member who believe in politics that delivers and politics of substance not politics for show off.
KAST also empowers its members to be impartial, inclusive and committed in their support for a visionary leadership, free from internal rivalry or division.
KAST’s mission is simple but powerful as their aim is to strengthen the APC’s presence in Kono through open dialogue and inclusive engagements. They also aim to bridge the gap between their leadership and the people on the ground and also promote the APC party values, promote issue-based campaign dialogues and detest personality-based campaigning.
The group also empowers the youths, uplifts women, and amplify the voices that are too often ignored.
This group also aims at bringing professionalism, strategy and resources into how they organize and operate.
KAST’s vision for Kono is that they believe in the potentials of Kono not just as a district with a rich history but as a district with a powerful future. Their vision also is to see a united Kono and that they will be fully engaged and aligned with a united APC which is essential not just for winning elections but for ensuring development, representation and renewed pride.
KAST is not in competition with the party structures; rather it is formed to support and strengthen them.
