Magistrate Santigie Bangura, of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1, yesterday remanded Annie Maude Dumbuya at the Correctional Centre for obtaining forty million, five hundred thousand leones from Key Stone Bank.
The accused is arraigned in court on forty-five counts ranging from forgery of a document, obtaining money by false pretences and larceny by servant.
Court details state that the accused, on 1st August 2018 at Key Stone Bank, 3 Rawdon Street in Freetown, with intent to defraud, forged certain documents, to wit one Key Stone Bank saving withdrawal slip number 254913 dated 1st August 2018 and payable cash for the sum of forty million leones. The documents were purportedly written and signed by Alie Bangura.
Court details continue that the accused, on the same day and at the same office, obtained forty million, five hundred thousand leones from Alie Bangura’s saving account number 002200003082 at the said Bank, using a forged withdrawal slip.
Also the accused on the same day, being a servant employed by the Bank, stole forty million, five hundred thousand leones from the bank.
After the charges were read to the accused, she pleaded not guilty of the offence. The lead defense counsel, J.M. Jengo, made bail application on behalf of the accused. The prosecutor, A.S.P. Eric Deen, objected to bail being granted.
The accused was denied bail and the matter was adjourned to the 10th February 2019.
