According to the Divisional Media Officer for the Kabala Police Division, Inspector Suma S., herbalist Ibrahim Koroma on 3rd July 2021 at around 11:05am agreed to a price of Le500 million to sell Abdul Marah, a nearby neighbour in the Kamasorkola community in the outskirts of Kabala Town, Koinadugu District.
Inspector Suma said the suspect was in negotiation with the complainant, Joe Sesay for three days before finally settling at Le200 million for the kidnapped victim.
Suma told that after the agreed amount, the suspect allegedly told the complainant to meet him at the Clock Tower at the Central Park to handover the kidnapped person to him. “The suspect was indeed able to show up at the scene on the agreed time,” he narrated.
After a brief discussion, he said the complainant sought permission to collect the money from his house, after which he went to and alerted the police about the intended kidnapping. A team of officers immediately rushed to the scene and arrested the suspect for further questioning.
“The team of officers arrested the suspect at 11:15 am and are surprised to see this individual who has been behaving abnormally before this time. He used to parade and sing in front of the police station for 30 minutes or more. But the extent of selling someone is unbelievable,” Inspector Suma S. affirmed.
The suspect is currently in detention helping the Kabala Police Division with the investigation, while they await a medical report on his mental ability.
