By Musa Paul Feika
Defense Lawyer Madieu Sesay, representing Alhaji Amodu Bah aka LAJ and two others in an on-going matter at the Magistrate Court No.1 presided over by Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma, told the court yesterday that the first accused, Alhaji Amodu Bah, was suffering from sickle cell and that this was why he was absent from court.
The defense counsel made this disclosure at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1 when police Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Osman Mohamed Bangura applied for bench warrant for the first accused person Alhaji Amodu Bah, because he failed to make himself available in court.
The Prosecutor`s application was granted.
The accused persons, Alhaji Amodu Bah Ibrahim Barrie and Alhaji Crew, are standing trial for the offences of assault on police, public provocation, public insult disorderly behaviour and other related offences, contrary to law.
The police charge sheet indicates that Alhaji Amodu Bah, Ibrahim Barrie and Alhaji Crew on the 22nd December last year at the Kissy Police Station, in the Freetown Judicial District in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, insulted and at the same time assaulted Superintendent Ansumana Koroma in a manner thereby causing him grievous bodily harm.
The accused persons are on bail and the matter was adjourned to 12th March 2020.
