Latest Update On Covid-19 Outbreak In S/Leone… 13 Positive Cases Recorded

The Ministry of Information and Communication yesterday, 15, April 2020 issued a status report of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country disclosing that the number of confirmed positive Coronavirus cases has reached 13 in the country.
“Sierra Leone last evening (14th April, 2020) two (2) new cases bringing the total number of positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 to 13 (27% female and 63% male),” the status report states.
According to the Ministry, all cases are in treatment facility and are in stable condition, adding that the total cumulative quarantine number is 1,462 and total number of persons currently in quarantine is 675, whilst 767 people have been so far discharged after completing quarantine.
The Ministry also encourages members of the public to call 117 if they experience fever, tiredness and cough and to use the face mask as a preventive measure for persons who are symptomatic so as to stop the spread respiratory droplets produced by coughing or sneezing.
“The public is also advised to wash hands with soap and water frequently or use hand sanitizer, avoid touching one’s eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands and to cough and sneeze into their upper hand or sleeve; and avoid close contact –arm’s-stretched length from others, especially in crowded areas and in social gatherings,” the report further advised.
The statement went on to warn, “the public is encouraged to take good care of their health to help protect against COVID-19. Take children for marklates and go to the hospital for Antenatal Care (ANC), safe delivery, malaria testing and treatment, and other regular care.”
The statement concluded by stating that the hospitals remain the safest place to go for health checks, treatment and care.
