National Protected Area Authority (NPAA) officials have been warned by parliament against hooliganism.
The warning came after complaints were received by parliament that a number of hoodlums were stationed at NPAA premises to disrupt business there.
NPAA Director Joseph Rato Musa and the Deputy, Madam Kate Karemo Garnett forwarded a number of claims to the parliamentary committee that should be investigated.
Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, Chairman of the parliamentary committee on the environment, issued the warning last Friday in Parliament where NPAA was making clarifications on the stand-off at the authority.
Hon. Conteh said the committee had recently summoned NPAA head and the Deputy to resolve their conflict.
During the conflict resolution process, Hon. Conteh said, the committee discovered that the NPPA Board flouted certain provisions in the NPAA Act.
The SLPP MP also expressed disappointment that the stalemate between NPAA head and deputy threatened the institution’s progress.
MP’s in their first meeting with NPAA head, the Deputy and the board discovered that NPAA had overstepped their Mandate.
Hon. Conteh also noted that the board seemed complacent about violations of the provisions enshrined in the NPAA law.
“It is the determination of the parliamentary committee on the environment to resolve the issue with a view to effectively manages the institution,” Hon. Conteh said.
He admonished NPPA Board to abide by the provisions in the NPAA Act.
