Leonoil Company Limited popularly known as LEONCO, the leading oil marketing company in the country, on Thursday, 7th September, 2023 opened another ultra-modern filling station at Rotifunk, Lungi, Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, Port Loko District.
This latest move by the oil marketing company fulfils its strategic vision to bring liquid gold to the doorsteps of customers in communities nationwide to make its petroleum products accessible to all.
Rotifunk happens to be the most populated business centre at Lungi as stakeholders of Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, commercial bike riders, motorcar drivers and general transport owners were in attendance to grace the opening of the state-of-the-art filling station.
Making a statement at the opening ceremony, Leonoil Operations Manager, Reginald Sawyer disclosed that the investment plan had long ago been established at Lungi, Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom before most of the audience present were born.
‘This is not the first time Leonoil is coming to invest in Lungi. This investment had been part of the development of Lungi. There is a plan to introduce E-cash payment and chit system in our respective filling stations across the country,’ he averred.
He said that Leoneoil is an indigenous company of Sierra Leone, with 100% Sierra Leonean ownership, and one of the biggest importers of fuel in Sierra Leone.
Mr. Sawyer called on the people to take ownership of the investment and protect the facility, assuring that Leonoil would make available quality fuel at all times.
PC Bai Shebora Sheba Gbereh III of Kaffu Bullom thanked his family, the Kamaras who offered the piece of land to Leonoil Company for the construction of the station. He further expressed gratitude to the company for the facility stressing that, this is a good investment that will not only serve the people of his chiefdom but the country at large.
The Secretary General of Motor Drivers and General Transport Owners Union, Lungi, Ibrahim Samura while thanking Leonoil, pointed out that this was the kind of investment they have been praying for in Lungi. He called on the company to always ensure that customers get value for their money by pumping the required litres purchased.
Residents of Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom expressed delight over the investment, stating that the outlook of the filling station has adorned Rotifunk and Lungi with a spectacular ambiance.
