Luminix Energy Solutions, Star Sport Academy Strikes Partnership Deal

Luminix Energy Solutions and Star Sport Academy on Saturday, 9th August 2025 officially stroke partnership deal, committing to provide a 35-seater bus and power generators to the rising football foundation.

The sponsorship package which was unveiled at the SLFA Academy in Kingtom, Freetown, promises to energize the local football prospect and essentially boost the Academy’s mission of grooming young football talent.

Explaining the background of the Academy; Ing. Yankuba J. Tarawally, the Chairman’s Star Sport Academy underscored was the institution was launched in 2022 to develop young talent for professional football careers in Europe and beyond.

“We established Star Sport Academy to harness the growing passion for football, recruiting young boys, nurturing their skills, and preparing them for opportunities in Europe and beyond,” Tarawally explained.

He highlighted nationwide scouting programs designed to spot raw talent and outlined significant investments, including land acquisition and seven transport vehicles, to sustain the Academy’s growth.

“Last year, we approached Luminix for a partnership, and today, they are our official sponsor. This is a winning match for both sides,” he stressed.

Luminix Energy Solutions CEO Salwa Campbell emphasized the shared values between sport and energy noting that both are about power, strength, and resilience.

“We’re here to fuel Star Sport Academy’s journey, and every match you play, every goal you score, will light up our shared vision,” Campbell said.

Sierra Leone National Team Head Coach Mohamed Kallon praised the partnership, calling for more academies to help develop players for the national squad.

Guest Speaker and National Sports Authority Executive Director, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, commended both Luminix and Star Sport for their commitment for their commitment to youth development.

He also revealed plans to set up a sports basket fund to reduce over-reliance on government funding, urging unity among football stakeholders to build strong structures for sustained success.

The ceremony ended with the symbolic cutting of the tape and the signing of the sponsorship agreement—marking the start of a partnership that both sides hope will deliver trophies on and off the pitch.
