Lunsar Killing… 35 Year Old Relocated

Detective Inspector Mohamed Kargbo, attached to the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters, on Pademba Road in Freetown, on Thursday 25th March 2021, testified before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No.1 over allegations of murder, which took place at Lunsar.

In his testimony, the witness recognized the accused and recalled Tuesday 16th February 2021. He said, on that day, he was on duty when a transferred case of an enquiry file of murder, from the Lunsar Police Station, was brought to the station for further investigation.

He said the file contains voluntary caution statements of the accused, abstract Police report, medical certificate of the cause of death, one blue and white handle kitchen knife with blood stains, and one old Tecno Android mobile phone.  The accused was also handed over to him.

The witness, in his testimony, tendered the cause of death certificate, which was marked as exhibit A. He also tendered the voluntary caution statement of the accused.

He furthered that, on Thursday 18th February 2021, himself together with Inspector Tamba Kasigbama (Scene of Crime Officer) visited the crime scene at Machama village in Lunsar. Photographs were taken and a statement was obtained from one Hawa Sesay.

On Wednesday 10th March 2021, he furthered, he finally charged the accused with the offence of murder, which is contrary to law.

According to the charge sheet, the accused, on Friday 5th February 2021, at Machama village, Lunsar, murdered Mariama Kongaima.

The accused was remanded in custody and the matter comes up again on the 15th April 2021.
