Magistrate Koroma To Rule On Murder Trial

By Musa Paul Feika

Defence counsel, Randy S. Bangura, from the Legal Aid Board (LAB) Sierra Leone, representing two accused, namely Vandi Senesis and Ibrahim Kamara, has objected for Police prosecution witness 3, Mohamed Bangura, in testifying in the ongoing murder matter at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No. 1, which is presided over by Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma.

The two accused are standing trial for allegedly murdering one Abubakarr Fofanah, on 21st June, this year at Whenzle Street, Kissy in Freetown.

Mr. Bangura continued his objection stating that PW 3 has earlier told the court that he did not know anything concerning the matter. He noted that all the other Police prosecution witnesses, who have testified in the matter, are story tellers.

He said the prosecutor has been delaying the matter. He also drew the attention of the Bench that his clients’ liberties were at stake.

In response, the police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP, Osman Mohamoud Bangura, said he witness, PW 3 Mohamed Bangura, did not complete his testimony on the last adjourned date.

After arguments and counter arguments, the Bench ordered the defence counsel to cross-examine the witness. But the defence said, inasmuch as the witness had earlier told the court that he did not know anything about the matter, he had no question for him.

The police file sheet adduces that the accused, on the 21st June 2020 at Whenzle Street, Kissy in Freetown, murdered Abubakar Fofanah.

The accused were denied bail and remanded at the Male Correctional Centre, Pademba Road in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to 9th September, 2020.
