Mariatu Koroma, a resident of Makeni and a nurse attached at the IEC Department, Makeni Government Hospital, is the proud winner of the sixth and final Bajaj Keke in the Orange Christmas promotion, which lasted for the past six weeks.
Welcoming guests at the handing over ceremony of the Keke to the winner at the Clock Tower, center of Makeni, Abdul Dizo Kamara, Regional Manager Orange Sierra Leone, thanked representatives from the Makeni City Council together with representatives from Orange for gracing the ceremony. He noted that he is happy that the sixth and final winner of the draw is coming from Makeni.
Madam Abibatu, Manager Prepaid Section, Orange Sierra Leone, gave an overview of the promotion, noting that winners for the six weeks draw have come from across different areas in the country; and that Mariatu Koroma is the last winner of six Kekes, which were part of the promotion.
This, she noted, shows that their operations and programs have a national character. She used the opportunity to brief the audience about the final draw for the 200 million leones, which is slated for Saturday 26 January, 2019.
Counselor Kadiatu Senessie Conteh thanked Orange for contributing to national development and urged individuals present to continue to patronize Orange Sierra Leone.
Deputy Chief Administrator, Makeni City Council, Mr. Abdul Kargbo, noted that he was among the people that doubted the credibility of draws organized by GSM companies, but that he became a winner of Le8 million with Africell. He urged Orange Sierra Leone and other subscribers to direct such huge finances they give to individuals to national development, noting that the hospitals and schools across the country are in dire need of support.
Madam Rufina Adjixon Tucker, Director Customer Experience, Orange Sierra Leone, who represented management at the handing over ceremony, noted that Orange Sierra Leone is engaged in a number of Corporate Social Responsibility projects like building schools and rehabilitating hospitals, and have also contributed over Le1 billion to President Bio’s Education flagship project.
She noted that the promotion was an initiative by the company to develop individuals who are subscribers of the network and encouraged people who are not subscribers to come and join the network and assured all and sundry that Orange will continue to do more towards their CSR and also promoting and building the capacity of individual subscribers.
The experienced Director noted that more women are becoming the winners of their promotions.
The climax of the ceremony was the presentation of the keys and fuel for one year worth five million leones to the winner by Madam Rufiana and other stakeholders present. Fuel and maintenance of the Keke, for a period of one year, will be done by Total Sierra Leone and Bajaj companies, who have partnered with Orange Sierra Leone for the six weeks draw.
Mariatu Koroma, the proud winner, thanked Orange Sierra Leone for empowering her and explained how she felt when she was notified that she was the winner of the Bajaj Keke. She disclosed that she found it difficult to believe that the promotions are real and encouraged people to continue to patronize with Orange Sierra Leone.
A float parade of the Keke was done and the winner, who was accompanied by her husband and other well wishers, was escorted with musical dancing to her home at Wusu Street in Makeni, and also to her workplace at the Government Hospital Makeni.
