The youth leader of the All People’s Congress (APC) party in Constituency 107 in the Western Rural District, Abubakarr Mansaray, has fled the community in fear of him been killed by the Sierra Leone People’s Party – SLPP’s irate youths
The situation for the APC youth leader started when he was asked by one of the staunch supporters and stakeholders of the SLPP to host a meeting for the SLPP in the Constituency.
The youth leader refused, saying: ‘I am an APC youth leader, how can I organise a meeting for my rival political party? Do you want me to be expelled from my party or killed by my comrades for anti-party activities?’ the youth leader told the SLPP stakeholders.
It was then according to sources, the SLPP stakeholder recorded this man in their book of those that will be treated or killed after they took power in 2018 elections.
Sources revealed that when the SLPP won the 2018 elections, Mansaray became the target of his rival party members. Sources pointed out that the portion of the land he bought was being encroached on by the SLPP members.
According to information when the APC strong man Mansaray protested about the encroachment of his land, he was mercilessly manhandled by his rival political party members. Abubakarr Mansaray’s life became miserable in Constituency 107, with the threat to kill him becoming the alleged plan of the irate SLPP youths.
Sources went further that Mansaray’s health started deteriorating, and has been in hiding since then.
Sources further informed this medium that when the Tombo riot took place in 2019, where many rioters were killed by state securities, the APC youth leader’s name took centre stage again.
Mansaray was accused by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Lahai Lawrence Leema, of incitement in the Tombo riot. Abubakarr Mansaray was declared wanted dead or alive, his residence was ransacked, his neighbours manhandled and accused of hiding the APC youth leader.

Reports intimated that, the government through the Deputy Internal Affairs Minister was very much anxious to arrest the APC youth, saying: ‘I want to drink tea with the skull of this APC youth leader who incited the incident in Tombo.’
Upon receiving the news about the allegations of him being part of organising the Tombo riot, Mansaray finally escaped from the Western Rural Area and fled to a neighbouring country where they reported the youth leader as seeking refuge.
It must be recalled that since the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) won the elections in 2018, many atrocities have happened especially against opposition members, who suffer the most.
Abubakarr Mansaray to date is wanted in the country for allegations of incitement his supporters see as a freedom of speech and assembly matter.
