By Janet A. Sesay

Ibrahim Lahai, who identified himself as an unemployed man, has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by a High Court sitting in Kenema for housebreaking and larceny.

The conviction was handed down on 6th January, 2026 by Honourable Justice Abdul Sheriff, after the accused pleaded guilty to the offence of housebreaking and larceny contrary to Section 27(2) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

State Counsel, Andrew F. Kamara told the court that on 25th April, 2025, in Kenema City, the Convict unlawfully broke and entered the dwelling house of Ramatu Conteh with intent to commit a felony.

Lahai pleaded guilty and begged the court for mercy.

In mitigation, Defence Counsel, Patrick Kamara of the Legal Aid Board in Kenema pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy, noting that the convict is a first-time offender who had showed remorse for his action.

In his judgment, Justice Abdul Sheriff, having considered the guilty plea and the plea in mitigation, sentenced Ibrahim Lahai to 18 months’ imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC), Kenema, including time already spent in custody.
