The Mathoi Community in the Yoni Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, and Northern Sierra Leone, is to benefit from a multi-purpose community center.
According to Mr. Sanpha Sesay, an indigene of the village, they came together in 2016 to form what he refered to as the Mathoi Decendants Union. The Union, he went on, is funding the construction of the multi-purpose center, which has six toilets, two offices and a reception room.
“We are doing these as indigenes living abroad to help contribute to the development of our village,” Mr. Sanpha said.
The philanthropist however noted that they are still to get all the funds necessary to complete the project. He used the occasion to call on indigenes of Mathoi, both at home and abroad, to come on board and support the project.
Mr. Sesay thanked Madam Nanette Thomas, the Minister of Political Affairs, who, according to him, had contributed immensely to the project.
Also present at the occasion was a son of the soil, Mathew Timbo, Minister of Labour and Social Security. The Labour Minister, in his statement, thanked Mr. Sesay and his brothers for taking on this great developmental stride, whiles he also appraised her colleague Minster, Nanette Thomas, for bringing development to her homeland.
The climax of the occasion was the pouring of concrete mixture to start the foundation works. This was done by Madam Nannete Thomas, Minister Timbo, Mr. Sanpha Sesay and other stakeholders from Mathoi.
The Political Affairs Minister was later crowned Ya Mariegbah, the wife of the founder of Mathoi village, Pa Thoi, in recognition of her love and commitment to bring development to that part of the country.
