Mercury International Sets to Construct Girls Secondary School for PortLoko

Mercury International Sierra Leone (MISL) Ltd has signed a contract with Architect and Consultant Ideas Ltd. for the construction of the All Girls Secondary School for PortLoko in Freetown.
The signing ceremony for the construction of the first 90-classroom school which took place yesterday at Bathurst Street in Freetown was in fulfillment of MISL’s support to President Bio’s Free Quality Education, the government’s flagship project.
MISL Managing Director, Martin Michael told Journalists, during the signing ceremony, that the school construction project stalled, in the past year, owing to circumstances beyond the organization’s control.
He praised the new Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Dr. David Sengeh for his enthusiasm and ambition to see that the school project comes to fruition.
“MISL’s promise of supporting government’s flagship project of free quality education through the school construction project will become a reality,” he assured.
‘’…Working together, sometimes on weekends, with the cooperation of our architect and consultant Ideas Ltd, we are finally ready to sign the first contract for the construction of the first All-girls school in PortLoko,’’ MISL Managing Director told newsmen.
Martin Michael also told journalists that PortLoko town was chosen as the first recipient of the school project to fulfill President Bio’s promise.
“The All-Girls Secondary School will be ultra-modern comprising six classrooms, a laboratory, Library, room for caretaker, office for the head teacher and staff rooms for teachers,” Mr Michael said. “The school will be ready for use in September, 2020,” he assured.
The school, Mr Michael said, would be built with environmentally friendly equipment so that it could be easy for any government rehabilitation effort when necessary.
The MISL Managing Director also thanked MBSSE Minister adding that the minister’s support and “cool demeanour” as well as his environmentally friendly ideas were incorporated into the final design of the project.
He also lauded architects and Consultant Ideas Ltd for putting up with their constantly changing ideas and suggestions during the course of designing the project.
Mr. Martin Michael similarly appreciated the effort of Samir Hassanyeh, MISL Chairman, Max Brandwain and Hassan Saad, MISL shareholders as well as the staff for their support to the project.
The signing of the contract by MISL Managing Director and officials of Architect and Consultant Ideas Ltd for the building of the All- Girls Secondary School for Port Loko formed part of the ceremony.
MISL has, for the past years, gained a reputation for meeting the aspirations of the people and government of Sierra Leone.
MISL footprints are everywhere from sports to entertainment, Education, Health and Sanitation, media support and other forms of benevolence.
The company was the first to pronounce the construction of a 90-classroom school in the country since the pronouncement of the Free, quality education by President Maada Bio.
Martin Michael assures the public that MISL is apolitical adding that the school project is free from politics. “The project is a give-back to the People of Sierra Leone,” he said.
