A 32-year-old motorbike rider, Ishmael Kamara, has pleaded guilty to stealing building materials and other property belonging to the United Methodist Church (UMC) in Dwazark, Freetown.
Kamara made his first appearance before Principal Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1, where he was arraigned on one count of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to police record, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Kamara allegedly broke into the United Methodist Church’s material store at Dwazark and stole therein one shovel, valued at Le200, 25 bags of imported cement, valued at Le205 each, and six lengths of iron rod, valued at Le208 each.
The total value of the allegedly stolen items amounts to Le7,005. The items were said to be the property of the United Methodist Church and were in the custody of one Issa Kargbo.
When the charge was read and explained to him, Kamara pleaded guilty. He was not represented by legal counsel.
Following his plea, Magistrate Jah adjourned the matter to the 14th of September, 2026, for records and sentencing.
The case was prosecuted by Police Prosecutor 18456 Linde Teh, attached to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP).
