Michael Family Donates to Government

The philanthropic Michael Family has donated the sum of Le100, 000,000 (one hundred Million Leones) to the government of Sierra Leone to strengthen the campaign against COVID-19 Pandemic.
The donated money has been transferred to the COVID-19 account at the Bank of Sierra Leone, an institution that handles all government money.
When the first case of COVID-19 was recorded in Sierra Leone, President Julius Maada Bio opened a COVID-19 account at BSL for donations made by any individual or institution.
The opening of the COVID-19 account is to ensure that all donations towards the campaign is kept in a single purse and judiciously utilised.
Apart from the donation made to government, Michael Family has also made donations to several entities to make sure that the virus is defeated before it gets a strong foothold in the country.
Michael Family, few months ago, donated to food items to Don Bosco, a local non-governmental organisation that specialized in the welfare of children.
Similarly, another consignment of assorted food items was donated to Heavens Home, Educaid Sierra Leone and CFRO.
The combined money value of these donations runs into millions of Leones.
During lockdowns pronounced by government, the welfare issue of the people remains a priority.
Moreover, a great number of Sierra Leoneans depend on hand-to-mouth survival as they consume what they make for the day.
Lockdowns therefore are no easy periods for the men in the street as they always have a bitter encounter with the forces of law and order while in due enforcement of the curfews pronounced by the President.
The donations of the food items to those institutions by the Michael Family went a long way to in ensuring the safety of beneficiaries by not venturing the streets for food during lock downs.
Also, the donation of the food items was a direct response to the President’s call for well-wishers at home and abroad to join the fight against COVID-19.
