The Minister of Finance, Jacob Jusu Saffa, during the government budget and statement of economic and financial policies for the financial year 2021 themed “Economic recovery for job creation and human capital development” read in Parliament, Tower Hill, Freetown, on Friday 13th November 2020 allocated Le3.7 billion to the Ministry of Sports and Le25.2 billion to the National Sports Authority (NSA), totaling Le28.9 billion.
The amount is an increase of Le12.3 billion when compared to last year’s allotment of 16.6 billion Leones to the Sports Ministry, as the NSA was not in existence.
Meanwhile, sport loving fans of Sierra Leone have called on the President Bio led Government to ensure that the Ministry of Sport and the National Sports Authority (NSA) be transparent and accountable in terms of money being spent on the senior national team, Leone Stars.
This concern was raised after the Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, and the Executive Director of NSA, Dr Kenneth Brima, publicly stated they are not accountable to the people of this country.
