By Tony Yayo
The Public Relation officer at the Ministry of Tertiary and Higher Education, Abdul Fonti Kabia has disclosed to this press that the government has settled the recent scholarship saga for over one thousand students pursuing various courses at the Limkokwing University.
Mr. Abdul Fonti Kabia made the disclosure after a meeting with some administrators of the college and the Ministry of Finance.
Students of the Limkokwing University has quite recently organised a peaceful protest in Freetown after the government of Sierra Leone has failed to honour its commitments to the University authorities.
This situation left a good number of students out of classes for a good number of months.
Fonti says, all the necessary financial arrangements have been made and the funds will soon be transferred to the Accountant General’s Office for onward payment to the University.
He continued that this development has also been communicated to the students who are expected to return back to their classes hence the payments are effected into the University’s account.
Mohamed Jalloh, a beneficiary student of the fees payment expressed delight over government’s decision to pay their college their fees noting that it is their right to follow the policy of the state and make sure that each and every person enjoys his human right to quality education.
He continued that since the incidence commenced they have been sitting idle at home, adding that the educational authorities should try by all means to make sure that they accomplish the main priority of the government which is the provision of quality education for all.
He urged the MTHE to make sure that such incidence does not occur again as this is the second time they have suffered from such saga.
