New Direction Gbasi Gbasi Heightens!

Must read

The level of gbasi gbasi in the New Direction Government that had prided itself in fighting corruption, transparency and accountability has heightened.
Even though President Bio has put together a team to help him accomplish his aspirations, members of such a team have engaged themselves in amassing wealth, fighting each other leaving the bigger picture for which they are appointed for into office.
Like in the days of the APC sharp divisions are glaring by the day between and amongst different Ministers and their deputies, heads of agencies and MDA’s and their supervising ministries etc.
This state of affairs has left the aspirations of the Presidency left undone and stagnated.
In the last ten years we have witnessed high level internal infighting between deputy ministers and their Ministers, the Youth Commission versus the Youth Affairs Ministry ,the list goes on and on and hence the job of providing the services for the people was affected. In some instances the former President had to sack those officials.
How is it that a Government that has promised a New Direction in terms of managing the affairs of the state would also be caught up in such a quagmire?
The recent conspiracy by the Ministry of Finance to undermine the robust strides by the NPPA is in itself defeating the hard earned reputation of the Authority in the face of our international partners like the World Bank and the IMF who have commended the Authority for taking on reforms at the sector.
The business of members of President Bio’s team is to support the strides and wins of their colleague in Government but not to work against whatever gains they are making to portray the Government in a very good light.
Opposition MP’s have all criticized the Ministry of Finance for consistently introducing laws that are inimical to the mere survival and effectiveness’ of the NPPA.One would actually wonder why such an exuberance and what might be the reason behind this.
It is a fact that the Ministry of Finance has failed to deliver on its mandate as far ensuring that we have sound economic policies that will translate into solving the bread and butter issues of the people. Why is it leaving this ardous task to concentrate in taking the job of others.
Quite recently we have also seen high ranking officials in Parliament all belonging to the ruling party exposing grand corruption in the House.Thier revelations were very much surprising for a Government that had committed to do things differently.
While all of this is going on people are quite apprehensive that the anti graft body is yet to heavily descend on Government officials as far as their corruption crusade is concerned, is it that the green guys are saints from heaven.
As the saying goes a divided house is likely to fall than a united one. There is no need to fight when the team players are all looking forward to score the goals.
Some of us will be vindicated when the Government first Auditor General’s Report will be read later this month.
