Demonstrating international standard of policing, ASP Daniel Koroma, the new Officer Commanding of Yele Police Station ASP Daniel Koroma has taken challenging ladders to bring change to the country’s most essential territory.
ASP Daniel Koroma took over office as the new Officer Commander (O/C) of the Yele police station on the 19th June 2025 wasted no time to demonstrate his ability to not only execute his police professionalism, but also to create a friendly atmosphere between the police and the different communities.
Upon assuming office, ASP Koroma started off with a warm call to hygiene to promote wellness among suspects and officers. That stride saw the proper cleaning of the station and its surrounding.
He then launched a project of constructing quarters on a piece of land next to the Yele Police Station. This is to keep officers close to their place of work and to promote expedience when duty calls during odd times. This project has seen some donations from goodwill Yele indigenes.
He has pushed for the fencing of the Yele Police Station with barbed wire to keep suspects away from other people and to discourage the transporting of other harmful drugs within the precinct in question.
Last week, he installed a new signboard bearing the logo of the Sierra Leone Police force and hung police flags, including the national one. O/C Daniel Koroma says restoring the dignity of Yele Police Station is a core part of his short-term plan.
The ASP’s other stride witnessed his holding of a stakeholder meeting with Paramount Chief Bai Komp Kanasang III, his section Chiefs, headmen, and other community leaders. O/C Daniel Koroma believes that contemporary policing revolves around community engagement. “It is a fundamental shift from traditional reactive policing to proactive, collaborative approaches to address crime and safety issues,” he adds.
As a way of complimenting ASP Daniel Koroma’s developmental initiative, popular businessman, Mohamed Brima Conteh aka Mohamed Tipper donated 10 bags of cement, a gallon oil paint and paint brush. Mohamed Kamara, a mechanic at Yele town donated half roll of barbed wire as his own gesture to fence off and prevent intruders, with clarion call on well-meaning people for more donations to help secure Yele and maintain peace.
