The Western Area Rural District Council Chairman has fumed at the controversial and illegal decision of the Minister of Lands, Dennis Sandy.
Kasho Holland Cole accused the Minister of illegally naming a certain community at Grafton ‘Paopa Town.’
A Council press release yesterday noted that, its attention has been drawn to a social media post about a town named ‘Paopa Town’ in the Grafton community, Western Area of Freetown.
The Council noted that it was not aware about the existence of such a town nor has it been informed about such a development.
The Chairman described the action as “illegal and not in conformity with the Local Government Act,” which according to him, places the responsibility for the naming of streets on councils.
The council release went on, to strongly advise those who erected the signpost to remove it with immediate effect.
The Minister is notorious for involving himself in land controversies.
