Joseph Nyande, the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, has reacted to the information in the Rugby Africa Union website. He said he has never, at any point in time, been appointed or named as the Secretary General of the above Union. Nyande reaffirmed that he only communicates with the Africa Rugby Union as the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee in Sierra Leone.
He went on that, when he came across the information, he sent an email to them on the issue. In reply the Rugby Africa Union apologized to him for the mistake and said they will immediately update their website and remove his name.
Forwarding the email from Coralie Van Den Berg of the Africa Rugby Union, they copied Joseph Nyande, Sierra Leone Union President, Jeremiah Pratt and Charles Yapo of the Africa Rugby Union.
Nyande told the media that it is quite impossible for him to be the President of the Sierra Leone Basketball Association and at the same time as the Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Rugby Union. He said, as the Secretary General of NOC, it is his mandate to communicate to all the international bodies of the various Olympic Sports and they in turn will communicate to him to cross check the activities of their members.
The President of the Sierra Leone Rugby Union said they have never, in any case, named Joseph Nyande as their Secretary General and went on that Donald George is their Secretary General.
