The Executive Director of the National Sport Authority (NSA), Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, has denied reports circulating on social media that Leone Stars head Coach Mohamed Kallon has demanded a $20,000 monthly salary and threatened to quit if the demand is not met.
Several media house recently reported Mohamed Kallon, head coach of Sierra Leone’s national football team, has issued a firm ultimatum to the country’s football authorities: increase his monthly salary to $20,000 or he will step down from his role and he had issued an ultimatum over his pay, Abdulai, who also owns Luawa FC, clarified that contract negotiations are still ongoing.
He clarified they are finalizing the details of the agreement and confirmed that, while figures have been mentioned during talks, Kallon has not made any threats to walk away.
The contract is still being finalized, and no official agreement has been reached.
Kallon, a former Leone Stars captain and one of Sierra Leone’s most celebrated footballers, was appointed as head coach in February 2025. Since then, he has been at the helm during the team’s World Cup qualifiers, including a 3-1 victory over Guinea-Bissau and a loss to Egypt in March.
Contract talks between Coach Kallon and the National Sport Authority are still ongoing.
