Adama Azu A nurse attached to the Ola During Hospital in Freetown has testified in a case of fraudulent conversion presided over by magistrate Marke Ngegba.
The offence of fraudulent conversion involves the use of a property entrusted to someone by another person for the purpose of delivery to a third party or for safe delivery.
Led in evidence by lawyer Amadu Sheriff, the witness, Adama Anzu told the court that he recognized the accused person and also recalled sometime in 2016. During the said year, the witness continued, her younger brother based in the United States entrusted the accused, Ibrahim Kamara two vehicles with specifications Mazda and Acura jeeps valued $ 10,000 each all to the combined value of $20,000. The said vehicles, the witness continued which were meant for sale vehicles were parked at Latter Day Saints church premises at Bellia Park. The witness also stated that the proceeds of sale were to be given to her.
Adama also testified that after the sale of the vehicles, he neither saw nor heard from the accused. This situation, according to the witness made her to report the matter at New England Police Station for investigation. Owing to the police investigation, the witness said, the accused surrendered Le8M to the police and same time returned one of the vehicles.
The accused was charged with a count of fraudulent conversion and court details states that the accused person sometimes in 2016 fraudulently converted to his use and benefit one Acura jeep and merzda jeep entrusted to him by the complainant Adama Azu for the purpose of sale.
The accused was granted bail by the magistrate and the matter was adjourned to the 20th January, 2020.
