Orange Sierra Leone 100% Compliant

Must read

Orange Sierra Leone continues to be commended by Sierra Leoneans for largely complying with the country’s regulatory issues over the years. Reports and revelations, in the past weeks, have disclosed a barrage of compliance and unfair treatment by the mobile regulator NATCOM under the previous Government against Orange Sierra Leone and many other mobile networks in favour of Africel Sierra Leone.
A Special Technical Audit Report, commissioned by the Ministry of Finance in Freetown, has accused the country’s regulator, under the previous Ernest Koroma government, of using unfair treatment in the levying of fines and the payment of the Universal Development Access Fund (UDAF) in favour of Africell.
The Ministry of Information, as the supervisory Ministry in the telecoms sector, while reacting to the recommendations raised in the Technical Audit Report, especially those relating to the unfairness on the issuance of 4G license, noted that they have realized as a Government upon coming into power that Orange Sierra Leone was unduly delayed in getting the 4G license to operate after their rivals in the sector had long secured theirs.
They noted that, as a Government, they believe in opening up the space to more players and also provide equal and fair treatment to the mobile operators in the country.
According to them, they have made a huge commitment to the people of Sierra Leone to achieve a highly inclusive rural connectivity. The Minister of Information encourages private partnership cooperation towards the attainment of such a goal.
Social media forums across the country were filled with conversations and discussions on the regulatory and non compliance issues raised in the Report by some mobile networks. They have largely commended Orange Sierra Leone for the level of compliance and discipline exhibited by their management in running the company.
The 523 page Report, released by a team of independent and professional auditors, has clearly exonerated Orange Sierra Leone amidst the so many issues raised by the Report on the country’s telecoms sector.
A renowned figure with vast experience in the country’s telecoms sector has told this medium that, he admires the high discipline and integrity exhibited by the company to the point that such a damning 523 Report on the telecoms would exonerate their company. Citizens have also commended the new Government for vigorously pursuing an equal treatment policy to all the mobile networks in the country. They have told nightwatch that they are pleased with the pace at which the Bio Government has been able to approve a second 4G license for Orange Sierra Leone, added to the ones already available in the country.
Orange has been commended for giving back to the country and their numerous subscribers while also adhering to the traditions and cultures of the Sierra Leonean people.
