Orange SL Data School Certifies 32 Students

Orange Sierra Leone (OSL) Foundation has celebrated the graduation of 32 students of Orange Digital Centre (ODC) Thursday September 8, 2022. The 32 students are now internationally certified web developers having undergone an intense 6-month full stack course on coding, content management systems and IT culture. The school has turned out 1, 000 learners since its inception, and prepared them for employability and entrepreneurship in a world of keen and tight competition.

Among the learners, OSL has employed 10 graduands as interns while 10 learners from the different classes have gained employment with other companies. The centre trains the youth on Web, Mobile App and Software Development, Office Assistant Skills, WORDPRESS Website Development, Soft Skills, Teck Talks, Summer, Coding Skills among others.

The students presented the projects they have tirelessly worked on, and explained how they plan to use them to correct social issues in society.  Sierra Leone will greatly benefit from the new graduands in the near future. The Orange Digital Centre continues to conduct trainings and capacity building activities in Sierra Leone.

Special thanks to the OSL directors and senior management for their support and participation. The ceremony was held at Orange Sierra Leone headquarters in Freetown attended by the top cream of OSL. Inspiring Statements were delivered by Orange Sierra Leone Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sekou Amadu Bah.

Senior officials: Haffie Haffner, OSL Foundation Director, Jestina Betts and Principal of the Coding School, Priscilla Okechukwu also made thrilling speeches. The ODC Principal, Okechukwu said she saw hope, readiness and resilience in the new graduands to break barriers to succeed.

 

She went on to inform the audience that there were students among them who were fast learners while others are weak and slow in their paces. Those challenges, she said, had however been transformed into knowledge, strength and   bright future.

Goodwill sentiments were also showered on the graduands urging them to break explore opportunities and contribute to national development. “I celebrate you today for your doggedness and remarkable resilience to success.This is your time to grow and shine,” she inspired the graduands.

She considers the students as ODC ambassadors, and urged them to light up the world as outstanding innovators with passion and creative minds. She is also highly hopeful that graduands would make the world a better place through impact and change.
