Orange Subscribers: Beware Of Fraudsters!

Orange Subscribers: Beware Of Fraudsters!

One of the leading mobile companies in Sierra Leone, Orange SL has warned its numerous subscribers to beware of fraudulent calls and SMSs. The mobile company also made it crystal clear that it does not ask for payment in return for winning any promotion and therefore asks that subscribers always contact 100 for confirmation.

This warning by Orange SL comes following fraudulent calls and SMSs by fraudsters or hackers that secretly find ways of looking at and /or changing information on somebody else’s phone without permission. For example, they would hack into your mobile phone system, gain access to your Orange Money and if you have an appreciable amount of money, they would make you believe that you have won a promotion and they would instruct you as to what you should do to get the promotion package you have won. By the time you have followed their instructions, your Orange Money reserve is gone, yours truly.

Many Orange SL subscribers have become victims of the intrigue of fraudsters that hack into their phones, impersonate the company, access their Orange Money and transfer it into their own accounts by giving false information to the victims.

Orange SL subscriber should therefore take cognizance of the fact that fraudsters are on the prowl, they ask for payment in return for winning any promotion in their imagination. But the company has come clear on this and any subscriber that is made to pay for winning a promotion should have themselves to blame.

No payment is made to the mobile company for winning any promotion; it’s only a figment of the fraudsters’ imagination that subscribers make payment to the company for winning a promotion.

So any caller or SMS that asks for a payment for winning a promotion from Orange SL should be considered a fraudster or hacker. Don’t follow their instructions,   discard or blacklist the numbers.

This warning by the mobile company is notably for subscribers who fall for anything because they want to be rich at any costs instead of following the instructions or announcements of the company regarding promotions. You are therefore warned that the mobile company would not take any responsibility if anyone is duped by fraudsters using the name of the company.
