Magistrate Manso John Fornah of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 has arraigned one Arnold Conteh, who is facing four counts ranging from conspiracy to commit a crime, larceny, malicious damage, and obtaining money by false pretences.
The charges are conspiracy to commit a crime, contrary to law; larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916; malicious damage, contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act 1861; and obtaining money by false pretence contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Kaimachende Drive, S.S. Camp, Regent Village, Freetown, the accused allegedly conspired with a person or persons unknown to commit a crime.
Count two alleges that at the same place and time, Conteh stole from a black Mercedes-Benz C-Class 300, with registration number ATO 831, one car tape valued at Le2,000 and one car battery valued at Le2,500, with a total value of Le4,500. The items are said to be the property of Oyah Aminata Bailor.
Count three further alleges that the accused damaged the rear-left glass of another vehicle, registration number AMR 747, valued at Le1,500, also belonging to Oyah Aminata Bailor.
The fourth count alleges that Conteh, with intent to defraud, obtained Le104 from Oyah Aminata Bailor by falsely representing that he would lead her to the person who allegedly stole her car tape and car battery, knowing the representation to be false.
When the charges were read and explained to him, Arnold Conteh pleaded not guilty to all four counts.
Following plea and mitigation, Magistrate Manso John Fornah adjourned the matter to the 16th of September, 2026, for the first prosecution witness to testify.
