Africa Global Logistics (AGL) has donated assorted food items worth Le 531,220 to residents of the Sea Side and Moa Wharf communities in Freetown as part of its Ramadan humanitarian support.
The donation was presented on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the Freetown Terminal Limited, in the presence of a Member of Parliament, councillors, community chairpersons, and other stakeholders from the beneficiary communities.
Speaking at the event, the Director of Cluster WAF at AGL, Captain Fabjan Kokan, said the gesture forms part of the company’s longstanding tradition of supporting communities, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
“This is what we do and it is part of our obligation—humanity, compassion and empathy for the people,” he said.
Captain Kokan noted that the world today needs more acts of humanity and solidarity, stressing that basic necessities such as food and water remain critical for many communities.
“Our focus today is not just about giving bags of rice but showing solidarity and understanding for people during difficult times. Humanity is humanity, regardless of tribe or skin colour,” he stated.
He also called on other partners and organizations to be inspired by the initiative and join efforts to support communities in need.
AGL’s General Manager, Maroun Abi-Aad, described the donation as a way of appreciating the communities hosting the company’s operations.
“The month of Ramadan reminds us of love and sharing. We hope this gesture will bring peace and unity, and we wish everyone a blessed Ramadan,” he said.
The Human Resource Manager of AGL, Yvonne Elliott, said the company was honoured to stand with the communities during the holy month and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community relations through compassion and support.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Member of Parliament Princess Daramy thanked AGL for what she described as a timely intervention.
“We appreciate this support and encourage them to continue assisting our communities. There are still many needs such as toilet facilities, solar lighting and water to help our communities grow,” she said.
Chairperson of the Sea Side community, Lamine Koroma, said the community has been benefiting from similar donations from AGL for over five years.
“We are very happy about this donation. The items will be distributed to nine mosques and the remaining portions will be shared across the 13 zones in the community,” he explained.
Chairman of the Moa Wharf community, Abubakarr Barrie, also expressed appreciation to the company for its continued support.
“We will ensure the items reach the right people. Our five mosques will be prioritized, followed by the elderly in the community,” he said, adding that AGL had previously supported the community by constructing a community centre.
Councillor Abu Baker Tejan Jaloh of Ward 429 also commended the company for its consistent engagement with communities.
“We have 12 mosques in our ward and the distribution will be carried out through them to ensure fairness,” he said.
The Ramadan donation forms part of AGL’s ongoing corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable communities and strengthening its relationship with residents around its operational areas.
