Must read

By Janet A. Sesay

Isata Saccoh, wife of Major Alfred Palo Conteh, on Friday 20th November, 2020 appeared before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of Magistrate Court No.1, but the matter did not proceed and was adjourned for ruling by the magistrate.

The matter commenced in August this year, where the state prosecutor, Yusuf Isaac Sesay, led several witnesses, including the ballistic expert, Joseph Abubakarr Sanu, attached to the Scientific Department at the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters in Freetown.

At the close of the prosecution’s case, defense counsel, Wara Serry Kamal, made a no-case written submission on behalf of her client. Magistrate Hannah Bonnie will either commit the matter at the High Court for further trial or will rule on the said matter on the next adjourned date.

Isata Saccoh is arraigned before the court on three counts of conspiracy, unlawful possession of arms and ammunitions and perverting the course of Justice, which are all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

The indictment states that the accused, on 29th April, 2020, at 11 Belewa Drive, Hill Station in Freetown, was found in possession of small arms and ammunitions without license. The accused is on bail and the matter comes up on the 26th November, 2020.
