Parliament Demands Oversight Reports

The Speaker of the House of Parliament, Hon. Sengepoh Solomon Thomas has urged the various Oversight Committee Chairpersons to furnish the House with their various reports before House goes on recess.

One of the functions of Members of Parliament (MP) is to conduct oversight on government Ministries, Departments and Agencies. They are also responsible for passing of Bills into laws and the ratification of agreements.

The Speaker called that he expects to also see reports on the several presidential appointees of Ministers, Deputy Ministers and other officials at Commissions and Agencies. The oversight reports would be consequently debated in order to fill in the gaps where needed.

In this regard, a press release from the Office of the Clerk of Parliament, informed Members of Parliament and the general public about the sittings of Parliament adjourned to Friday, 30th August 2024 at 10:00 O’clock.

Meanwhile, Chairmen of Parliamentary Committees are encouraged to submit their oversight reports on or before the House goes on recess.
