Pee Cee and Sons, which was alleged to have been involved in electricity theft, have been cleared by the Oversight Committee on Energy in Parliament, chaired by Hon. Kekura K. Vandy.

It could be recalled that the Chairman of the Committee on Energy, Hon. Kekura Vandy, made the disclosure on Tuesday 25th August 2020 when submitting the Oversight Report to the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Chernoh Abass Bundu, and officials from the Ministry of Energy, at the new Administrative building in Parliament.

After thorough investigations, on the said allegations by this medium, we discovered that Pee Cee and Sons have not engaged on any electricity theft neither involved on illegal connections of electricity in the country.

This medium further discovered that such misunderstanding has been clarified and settled long ago; and that the Energy Committee in Parliament also failed to crosscheck with Pee Cee and Sons to have firsthand information before the report was made available at that time.

The institution is always committed to complement government’s effort on generating the much needed revenue through electricity. Pee Cee and Sons had no intention or plan to engage on activities that have the tendency to defraud the state from its much needed revenue for the development of Sierra Leone.

The fifty million Leones’ (Le50, 000, 000) fine, allegedly by the Energy Committee in Parliament, is just a misunderstanding and that such grave allegation is never the case with Pee Cee and Sons.

Authorities of Pee Cee and Sons said yesterday that their business requires electricity, but to allege that their institution was involved in dodging the payment of electricity bills is not true.

The Minister of Energy, Hon. Alhaji Kanja Sesay, pointed out that the Oversight Committee Report in Parliament will serve as a guide to the Ministry of Energy, adding that though they face challenges in the ministry but are not aware of electricity theft by Pee Cee and Sons.
