As part of his effort to complement government in its fight against the coronavirus disease in the country, the C.E.O of Pavi Fort Sierra Leone, Alimu Barrie at the weekend extended his goodwill gesture to Karene district to help the residents prevent themselves from the COVID-19 pandemic.
As his support to the COVID-19 fight in the district, Mr. Barrie handed over a Le20 million cheque, 30 gallons of hand sanitizers, 5000 facemasks and 80 bags of rice to an indigene of the district, Professor Alpha Tejan Wurie, who’s the Minister of Health and Sanitation, at a well-attended ceremony at Gbintie Town, Dibia Chiefdom.
Mr. Barrie also handed over a cheque of Le10 million and 20 bags of rice to the Regent Chief of Dibia Chiefdom, Pa Alhaji Amadu Jah as social mobilization support to traditional authorities in fighting the pandemic in the district.
The donation ceremony was also attended by the Honourable Speaker of Parliament, Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu, Special Adviser to the President and Ambassador-at-Large, Dr. Bundu-Wurie, the Coordinator of Karene District COVID-19 Emergency Response Centre (DICORVERC), Foday Kallon and the local authorities respectively.
It was all praises from the politicians, local authorities and ordinary people for the philanthropist of Pavi Fort Sierra Leone, Mr. Barrie for the COVID-19 support to the district.
The occasion was climaxed by traditional singing and dancing by hundreds of people, who converged on the Gbintie Town Court Barray to witness the donation ceremony.
According to CEO Barrie, all the donated items were valued at Le110 million.
