Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown has on Wednesday, 28th January, 2026 sent the case of Abass Kargbo to the High Court of Sierra Leone for trial for allegedly killing one Abubakar Fullah.
Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah ordered that the Defendant, Abass Kargbo be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown pending when the matter is called at the High Court.
The ruling followed the Defendant’s appearance before the court on a single count charge of murder contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the Schedule to the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act, 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).
The indictment states that Abass Kargbo on Tuesday, 11th November, 2025 at Timbo Lane, Bah Drive off Peninsula Highway in Freetown, unlawfully murdered one Abu Bakarr Fullah.
During his first appearance when the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.
In his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that the prosecution had laid out a prima facie case to warrant the committal of the defendant to the High Court.
He therefore ordered the committal of the matter to the High Court for trial and ordered that the accused remain in lawful custody pending his appearance before the High Court.
