The police are on the look out for Emmanuel Jones who has been declared wanted for planning and taking part in a protest. He is said to be one of those who incited the August 10, 2022 demonstrations in which 31 people lost their lives including six police police officers.
His post as an executive official of the opposition, All People’s Congress (APC) made him a key suspect. Government who has accused APC of planning, financing and orchestrating the protest says those responsible should be arrested.
Since Emmanuel Jones was singled out for arrest and detention, he ran away from Sierra Leone to Ghana where he stayed briefly. Â On 25th April, 2023, he left Ghana for Banjul to keep himself safe from police arrest.
However, based on information that police are sill going after him, he left the Gambia for the United States on 24th June, 2023. Emmanuel Jones can be arrested at any time he returns home as the warrant still remains in force.
