Assistant Inspector General of Police, North-West Police Region, Ansumana .J.A. Gbonnoh, has reported to the media that police in his region through pro-active security checks, have nabbed two Indian nationals attempting to smuggle valuable minerals through the Mange Bureh Checkpoint in Port Loko District.
The Police boss says they were able to interrogate the Indians as a result of intelligence they received that the two Indian nationals are travelling to Guinea via Mange to Kambia with valuable minerals.
The two Indian nationals, he added, are currently with the Criminal Investigations Department for further investigation.
Speaking on the security situation in the North West Region, the Police AIG noted that it is relatively calm.
He added that they have commenced joint patrols with the military to ensure that criminal gangs are arrested and brought to justice.
AIG Eastern Police, Francis Bundoh, also intimated the press that the eastern region has no security threats.
The region, according to him, is peaceful.
