Police Officer Testifies in an Assault Matter

Detective Police Constable Mohamed Lamin Kamara attached Kissy Police Station in Freetown has testified in an assault matter presided over by Magistrate Alhaji Sullaiman Koroma.

The three accused persons, Alhaji Amodu Bah aka LAJ and two others were arraigned before the court for allegedly assaulting Superintendent Ansumana Koroma, Commanding Officer, Operations Support Division, attached Kissy Police station.

The three accused persons were also charged with other offences including assault on police, insulting conduct among others.

The Witness Mohamed Lamin Kamara recognized the accused persons and recalled Sunday 2nd December 2019.

On the said date, witness said, he was on duty at the Criminal Investigation Department, Kissy Police Station when the accused persons were arrested and brought in by police operations team.

“The matter was assigned to me for further investigation,” Witness said.

Kamara also told the court that he issued police medical form to complainant for medical examination and treatment at the Rokupa Government Hospital.

Witness further testified that complainant later returned the endorsed medical paper and made statements.

On 23rd December 2019, witness went on; he obtained voluntary caution statements from the accused persons witnessed by his co- detective Koroma O.W.

The caution statements were tendered in evidence and formed part of court records.

“On the same date, I charged the accused persons with the offences above,” witness rounded up.

The police charge sheet indicates that Alhaji Amodu Bah and two other on Sunday the 2nd December last year, at Kissy Police Station in the Freetown judicial district, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, assaulted Superintendent Ansuman Koroma, in a manner thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.

Bail for the accused persons continues and the matter comes up on 2nd April.
