44-year old Victor Shanka, a sacked Sierra Leone Police recruit has been remanded for perverting the course of justice after making his first appearance before a magistrate court in Freetown.
Bail application for the accused was turned down by the presiding magistrate, Sahr Kekura.
It was alleged that the accused, on Wednesday 27th September, 2023, in Freetown, knowing well the circumstances about a planned coup to overthrow the government of President Julius Maada Bio, on the same day and other days thereafter, fabricated evidence with intent to pervert the course of Justice.
The matter was adjourned to 15th February.
