Police Testifies in Burglary Matter

Detective Police Constable 469 Kanu A.B attached to the Hastings Police Station has testified before Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No. 1 in the ongoing matter involving one Moses Sesay who was charged with the offence of burglary and larceny, contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1816.
The witness in his evidence before the court stated that he recognized the complainant, Juan Bull Kabba, as well as the accused and could also recall 12 September 2019 while on duty when the accused was arrested and brought in by the complainant O.J, adding that the matter was assigned to him for further investigation.
He added that on the same date, together with the complainant, Ms. Kabba, including a team of police officers, they visited the scene of crime at Upper New York, Hastings.
The witness told the court that on their arrival they saw the main gate leading to the compound damaged, the window guards were also damaged.
Photographs were also taken by the Scene of Crime Officer.
He furthered that he had obtained statements from the complainant and her witnesses respectively.
The witness furthered that on the same date, he told the court that a search warrant was conducted at the premises of the accused, Moses Sesay, but that nothing of police interest was discovered.
The witness informed the court that he later obtained statement from the accused witnessed by Detective Police Constable 171712 Mohamed Lanhim.
The matter was later transferred to the Ross Road Police Station for further investigation.
The accused was before the court on one count charge of Burglary and Larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1816.
The accused was not represented and hence he was refused bail while the matter was adjourned to 13th December 2019.
