The Leader of the National Grand Coalition (NGC), in Parliament, Hon. Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, has warned President Julius Maada Bio against fake promises.

According Hon. KKY, poverty has become endemic in Sierra Leone and over $200 million funding has been poured into the country and appreciable performance in the expenditures of these funds has yet to show or reflect on the masses.

He made the disclosure on 6th July 2020 when making his submissions during the Presidential Debate in the Well of Parliament.

He continued that Leaders in their speeches always deliver promises that they cannot graciously deliver to the people and in turn they leave power leaving the people vulnerable.

Hon. KKY revealed that what he envisages as politician in recent time is the fact that the leader of this current government is not preview to give credit to who credit is due, especially the former regime.

“We should not continue with this as it has ripple effects on the peace of the nation. We should start to give credit to people,” he said.

He revealed that, in order to further build-up national cohesion, citizens want to see the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) government give credit to the former regime on work they have done, especially projects they implemented and completed, which are of great benefit to citizens.

“Political tension is very high and it is no mistake. So far at the moment no big investment is coming into the country due to the fact that political tension is visible and investors are afraid to invest into such country,” he asserted.

The MP, who was always very emotional when making his submissions, opined that he has witnessed and see lots of selective justice in the Bio regime now. “If such continues what will be expected from the next President? And such will not build the country’s peaceful coexistence,” he said.
