Sunday is a day of excitement and jubilation in Bo city as President Julius Maada Bio launches the first ultra-modern stadium in that part of the country. For many years, Bo city has never got a standard stadium that can host international matches. The new stadium will be first of its kind. Preparations are underway in the second city as the President alongside his entourage sets to jet in.
The new football field popularly known as the Southern Arena is one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects pursued by one of Sierra Leone’s young investor, Babadi Kamara. He is a young man with great ambition to take Sierra Leone to higher heights through games and sports. The successful completion of a stadium that has passed FIFA (Federation International Football Association) standards test has made President Bio proud.
Abbadi’s exceptional achievement has convinced President Bio that Sierra Leone has a pool of young, able-bodied and patriotic citizens ready to commit their energies to national development. The football pitch has the required capacity, and will soon host a football competition of nine West African countries. Through Babadi, Bo city has got proud international recognition.
The young investor does not misplace the trust and confidence reposed in him by President Bio and the people of Sierra Leone. As a patriotic Sierra Leonean, Kamara has give back so much to his homeland. He has built up talents by investing in young people.
He has also brought to his team most of Sierra Leone’s young players including the popular striker Musa Noah Kamara fondly known as Musa Tombo. He ensures that the players are better paid, and Babadi Kamara is the first football employer to pay attractive salaries and wages to footballers.
His magnanimity benefits players in other football clubs in Sierra Leone as other football club owners emulated his good example. His good pay became a template for other employers in the football world. Babadi’s good work is not limited only to the sports world. Those who pursue education in different institutions have also got the good side of his philanthropy.
He has offered scholarship opportunities to countless number of pupils and students in primary and secondary schools as well as those in tertiary institutions. The award of scholarship is a big boost to education which is government’s flagship project. In 2018, President Bio promised Free Quality education to all Sierra Leoneans irrespective of tribe, region, religion and political affiliation. The President’s aim is to see that Sierra Leone takes pride in an educated workforce in years to come.
It is also safe investment in the education of the young that has no equal anywhere in the world. No effective weapon for liberation from poverty, ignorance and disease exists other than education. Development experts also submit that no can develop above it literacy standards. It is also argued that no country can if its education standard does not exceed 40 per cent.
Babadi has also created job opportunities for the youth of Sierra Leone by the construction of the new stadium. There will be receptionists, security guards, cleaners, waitresses and attendants who will look after the new stadium. Sierra Leone’s population of youth is growing fast thus making the need for investment and entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurs like Babadi Kamara are hotly needed in Sierra Leone to create jobs. Job creation reduces crime and puts money in the pockets of young men and women.
