Proprietor of Bumban High School of Science located at Bumban Town, thirteen miles from Kamabai, the Chiefdom headquarter town of Biriwa Chiefdom, Bombali District, Northern Sierra Leone, has called on the various GSM companies operating in the country to come to the aid of the school in terms of restoring network in the area.
The Proprietor of the well-equipped science school in the north of the country fully co sponsored by a native of Bumban Village Mr. Yarta Sesay and a British born couple resident in Houston Texas in the United States of America, disclosed that he and his co-proprietors responded to the deplorable situation of kids at Bumban and the surrounding villages who used to walk thirteen (13) miles from the Village to Kamabia.
The Catholics, he continued, made efforts to erect a mud block structure which was serving as a primary school.
He noted that his intervention was able to build an ultra modern school at the village with staff quarters, libraries and a science laboratory.
Mr. Sesay disclosed that he was able to employ fifteen teachers, three security guards, two cooks and other temporal staff .
The Bumban High School is fully funded and sponsored by him and his co-proprietors, and that since then the School has grown with over two hundred (200) pupils.
He noted that the lack of mobile network in the area is challenging the retention of teachers in the school even when they are well paid way above what Government is offering.
Mr. Sesay appealed to the management of mobile companies in Sierra Leone to work towards addressing the acute problem.
Bumban, he emphasized, is a very large town with huge trade and commercial potentials and is just thirteen miles from Kamabia.
He concluded by calling on Government to look for ways in which it can complement the efforts of the proprietors of the School as they are spending well over $ 5,000 every month to run the school.
