Proprietor Of Peak Communication To Be Arrested

Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker, who presides over at the Industrial Court No.2, has instructed Inspector Alhaji Tejan Bangura to apprehend the proprietor of Peak Communication Limited, Princess O.M. Owiredu and Abubakar Swallo and bring to them court as against the next adjourned date.

According to the bailiff, when he served them initially, Peak Communication Limited was having its head office at Big Waterloo Street in Freetown, but the institution has changed location. He said all efforts to get them became futile. Several adjournments have been granted in the instance of the defendants to avail themselves in court.

The defendants are before the court for the offence of failing to pay national social contributions, which is contrary to Section 32 (1) (c) of the NASSIT Act No. 5 of 2001.

According to the charge sheet, being an establishment and employer under the NASSIT Act No. 5 of 2001, the proprietor of Peak Communication failed to pay national social security contributions for his employees.

The matter was adjourned to 26th June, 2021.
