Prosecution Closes Robbery Matter

The police prosecutor, Inspector Isata Bangura, at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1, has told the bench that she has closed her case for the prosecution, adding that it is only left with the defence to open theirs.

Inspector Isata Bangura made this disclosure during yesterday`s proceeding before Magistrate Wilbri Hamida Moira John, who presides over at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1.  This is an ongoing robbery matter involving Yusuf Conteh (accused), who was charged with the offences of conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery with aggravation, wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, which are all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

According to Inspector Isata Bangura, several witnesses (both formal and factual) have been led.

The accused is arraigned before the court for allegedly robbing John Yayah certain properties worth six million five hundred thousand Leones (Le6,500,000).

According to the police charge sheet, Yusuf Conteh, on Friday the 16th October, 2020, at Gospel Drive, Grafton, conspired together with unknown persons to commit a felony, to wit robbery with aggravation.

The police say the accused, on the same date and address, wounded and assaulted John Yayah and Janet Turay, in a manner thereby causing them grievous bodily harm.

The accused was denied bail and remanded at the Male Correctional Centre, Pademba Road in Freetown. The matter will come up again on the 30th April, 2021.
